Les Kouba Winter Fishing Memories

Count the 13 ice houses--Les Kouba's use of his signature "13" in this famous painting WINTER FISHING MEMORIES.  Although it looks deserted, you can see smoke coming out of the houses where an optimistic fisherman waits to get the big one.    This same setting is used in Kouba's last of his Darkhouse series--Darkhouse Finale.    

Although they may look like shacks, some ice houses can be quite elaborate with beds, stoves, even televisions.  If you have an ice fisherman in your family, they will easily relate to the scene in this winter Northwoods print.
